The Old Vegas Tavern on Desert Inn Road is a sports lounge and gaming establishment on the East Side of Las Vegas that specializes in creating new memories while reminiscing about the past in Las Vegas. Old Vegas Tavern (OVT) opened in 2015, is a popular locals spot known as a sports lounge and for its gaming offers a laid-back atmosphere and great food. The building that the tavern is located in has a rich history, dating back to the 1950s when it was originally built as a bar and restaurant called the Town House Cocktail Lounge.
In the 1970s, the building was renovated and became the Desert Inn Bar, which was a popular spot for locals and visitors to grab a drink and play video poker. The bar remained in operation until the early 2000s, when it was closed and left vacant for several years.
In 2014, a group of investors purchased the building and began a major renovation to restore it to its former glory. They changed the name to the Old Vegas Tavern to pay homage to the building’s history and to create a new gathering spot for Las Vegas locals and tourists.
Today, the Old Vegas Tavern on Desert Inn Road is known for its classic cocktails, craft beer selection, and delicious food. The tavern’s walls are adorned with vintage Las Vegas memorabilia, including photos and artwork, to create a nostalgic atmosphere that celebrates the city’s rich history.
